MTG 2011 Final Rankings

Many thanks to all the MTG players who have entered our many tournaments, deck building challenges and leagues through out 2011. In all there have been 27 events were players could earn points. We have had an impressive 75 players in total, some only playing in one event others playing in almost all of them (Nathan coming in with the most attendances - 25 in all!) Point are awarded for any competitive format from FNM's to Prereleases. The more you play the more points you will get, the higher you finish the higher you will be placed in the rankings, your overall score is also improved by having a high average score, so consistently being the top half will make a difference! Most players average between 6 and 9 points per tournament, the highest average score this year, playing at least 3 events was Olly with an impressive 10.36.

The rankings will be reset for 2012, so anyone could be at the top. Remember the best way to get points is at the weekly FNM's. We will maintain an all time record as well with the top ten featuring on the rankings page!

Full rankings for 2011 can be found on the rankings page and will remain there until the end of January, here is the top ten places for 2011:

10, Andrew Haddow, points 56.4 average 9.40
9, Theo Jordan, points 57.1 average 7.14
8, Michael Pike, points 72.0 average 9.00
7, Robert Hills, points 132.9 average 8.86
6, Nick Lewis, points 136.6 average 7.59
5, Gary Cambell-Smith 148.4 average 7.42
4, John Herring, 150 points average 10.00
3, Olly James, 155.4 points average 10.36
2, David Sanders, 157.5 points average 7.50
and finally....
1, Nathan Minter, 248.6 points average 9.56

The top ten will shortly receive an invite to the Gambit 2011 Grand Tournament, which will be held in January and will cover several different formats! Who will be the 2011 ultimate champion?

Once again thanks for making all the events a pleasure to organise, Happy New Year to you all and I look forward to many more great games in 2012!

Ignite the Dawn

The third set of Innistrad block has been revealed as 'Avacyn Restored'.

This makes a change as recent final sets of magic blocks have resulted in the rise of evil, 'Eldrazi' in Zendikar and 'Phyrexia' in Scars of Mirrodin, unless Wizards has a twist in store for us.

Prerelease events will take place on the 28th-29th April (we'll keep you posted on where and when closer to the time) with the set going on sale on May 4th.

Happy Gaming

Innistrad League

Due to the lack of Innistrad boosters in November we have decided to finish the league and declare a winner. League play will return after the new release 'Dark Ascention' but hopefully the format will either change or stock availabilty will improve!

As far as the Innistrad league is concerned, the winner after the 4 rounds played is Theo! Well done for doing consistantly well each week! All players get a poster and a 'Curse of the Bloody Tome' for playing and the winner will receive a promo 'Cultivate'

Remember to check your rankings, as the FNM and League results have been added!

Its Friday!

Its Friday today which can only mean one thing! Well two actually its Friday Night Magic in Shoreham, but just to make things more interesting its late night xmas shopping as well. This will mean that the shop will be open whilst FNM is being played! So for tonight there will be no 'dice off' or coin toss to decided who goes first, instead it will be a 'cracker off'!

Last week FNM saw David claim a victory, although for me Theo stole the night beating Nathan 2-0 in quick succession thanks to that mighty card .... 'Stormfront Pegasus' could this be the end of the Sun Titans rein as the best white creature? .... well no ... but it was fun to watch!

Remember FNM counts towards Gambit Rankings and Planeswalker Points!

Hopefully see you there!

The Wizards are coming!!!!

Morning all, just thought I would let you know of a great opportunity that has come our way! We are proud to announce that Amar from Wizards of the Coast is coming to our Shoreham store at 10am this Saturday (tomorrow!). He will be here for about 6 hours to demonstrate the game to new players, but he is also here to discuss Magic the Gathering events, tactics, deck ideas and anything that you want to ask. He has loads of experience of the game and is a pro-tour player in his own right!
So if you got a few minutes to discuss MTG this Saturday then why not pop along!

Warhammer 40K Singles

On Sunday we held our second 40K Singles Tournament and without Phil being able to attend, we have a new company champion!

The event saw armies from many of the 40K universe races try and claim victory on the battlefield! The Dark Eldar, Necrons, Space Marines, Tau, Eldar, Grey Nights, Ork, Imperial Guard and Chaos Space Marines were all represented! There were two Space Marine Armies trying to reclaim a win for the emperor, following last years win!

In the middle of the field things were very close with several players in with a chance of being in the top 3! The top place however seemed to to belong to the Necrons from the opening game! Congratulations to Mike on a fine victory, the only player to win all of his games!

The final standings were:

10, Aaron - Chaos Marines (1 point)
9, Gary - Eldar (10 points)
These two players only played the first round!

8, David - Tau (4 points)
7, Matt - Dark Eldar (42 points)
6, Chris - Marines (51 points)
5, Gareth - Orks (51 points)
4, Swifty - Marines (51 points)

And the top three....
3, Paul - Grey Knights (62 points)
2, Colin - Imperial Guard (91 points)
1, Mike - Necrons (120 points)

The best painted army went to Gareth for his Ork Army!

I hope everyone enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing everyone at the Double next year!
