Gaming Sunday

A bit late I know but in just in case your not aware, today its Gambit Sunday and as normal there will be a full day of gaming!

Although there was nothing planned for this week there have been a number of players requesting a draft of M15, so if there is enough interest I am happy to arrange one for about 4/5pm, we would need at least 6 players. Please let me know if your interested when you arrive. (the cost would be £10 on top of the usual gambit entry price)

Nick from Black Box is due to pop along with the demo version of his new Polar Bear game and we will be looking for some players young and old to give this a go. The game has changed a bit since last time and a number of suggestions have been taken on board. There will be lots of new ideas to test, so if your interested please let me know. Nick will be there from 5pm

There is a Malifaux tournament being run through out the day, details of which can be found on the Gambit Games Facebook page - if you are interested in finding out more ask us when you arrive.

There will co course be the usual Bolt Action, War Machine, Hero Clix, 40K and much much more!

Food will be available all day as usual...

Lastly, but by no means least we be selling tickets for ...

We are now in a position to confirm that the first 50 tickets sold will get a goody bag on the day of the event, more details of which will be given in the coming weeks! These tickets are still priced at just £7.50 and tournaments are at £2.50. These prices only last until the end of June so please NOW!

If anyone wants to arrange to play anything this Sunday, then our Facebook group is the best place to let people now!

Hope you can join us for a great day of gaming!!!!

Gaming Sunday

This weekend its Gambit Sunday and as normal there will be a full day of gaming!

Nothing special planned for this weekend but there is sure to be quite a bit of casual play which usually includes commander. I have got a small amount of Conspiracy boosters left I might be able to do a 4 or 6 player draft (the cost would be £10 on top of the usual gambit entry price)

This week I am looking for 4 players to continue with the play testing of our new campaign system for Lords of War - we have been doing it for the last few Tuesdays and need to make the final tests before introducing it as a format to the team at Black Box and the start of our monthly LOW events on Fridays at the Royal George!

There are also likely to be a few new games being played as I know several people went up to Expo a few weeks back and picked up some new toys. I have given Kevin the game IPA to have a look at and will be posting something about that on the KD Games blog a bit later today! We really need 4 players who are willing to give this a try and let us know what it is like. This is something that we have been asked to do by the game designer - so honest feedback please.

Gaming Sunday

This weekend its Gambit Sunday and as normal there will be a full day of gaming!

We should have a fair few playing Warmachine and Hordes this Month as part of the Journeyman league thats currently running (currently 20 active players).

This weekend it is the prerelease for the new set 'Journey into Nyx' and we will be holding an event at 11am! This event will cost £23 and can be booked through the KD Games Website! This is a limited space event and we can only take a maximum of 20 players! More details on this event can be found on the KD Games Blog!

There will hopefully be a bit of play in general this weekend of the Lords of War card game, especially since the brand new expansions 'Undead vs Templars' and 'Weather and Terrain' have just been released. These will be on sale this weekend and we will have people happy to teach you how to play if your new to the game! There will be a tournament being run in the coming weeks for another chance to win a ticket to 'CONQUEST' so this is a great time to get some practice in!

There will be of course the usual multitude of games available throughout the day, so what ever you play you bound to get a chance to play! Hopefully some of the guys from Brighton Heroclix will be joining us later in the day, and if you have not played before its really worth a look!

Food will be available throughout the day ...

This month's Gambit Sunday!!!

Evening everyone, just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the first Gambit Games event of 2014!

There are a few bits planned which include ...

The event itself will not start until 11am, but players are welcome to start registering from 10am. The cost of this will be £20 for which, all players will receive six booster packs in which they'll then create a forty card deck to compete with against other players (number of rounds will be decided on the day). Post the event, all entries will also receive an additional two booster packs and an exclusive Promo card. There is currently space on this event so if you want to come along let us know.

There are only a very limited number of promo cards for this event and these will be issued to players in the order that they registered (so it may pay to be early!)

There will also be a chance to play the new ...

There are a limited amount of promo cards and demo kits available for us give out to players that want to try it out! If you want to know more about this game then see the KD Games post which includes a how to play video and the first episode of the animation series!

Later in the day we will be hosting the first of this years Lords of War tournaments ...

This will start at about 4pm, but I would be grateful if players could regisiter for it as soon as they arrive as it is a very busy schedule and I would like to get the event details sorted in advance! More information can again be found on the KD Games blog.

On the MTG front there will of course be the usual casual and multi player formats but in addition Simon is planning a M14 'novice' draft! He is hoping to not only give people the chance to join in this grate format but hopefully share some tips and pointers on what to look out for!

The guys from Brighton Heroclix will be in as normal and happy to teach players this popular game.

Andy is hoping to get some demo games of  ...

contact him via facebook if you are interested.

There will of course be the usual favourites such as War Machine, Bolt Action, X-Wing, 40K and many many different board games and card games throughout the day as well as a chance to have a go at Judge Dredd ready for the coming campaign!

Tickets for next weekends MTG prerelease will also be on sale at £23 - for more details see the KD Games Blog!

Food will be on sale as normal, but with such a big attendance expected for the prerelease then it would be a good idea to book your food when you get there, here is the menu in case you don't know what we offer...

I think that about covers it, and with such a lot on offer this weekend if I was you I would get there early and make the most of your £4!

Whilst on the subject of fees, please remember that the annual membership of £40 (for those that wish to pay in advance that is!) offers a saving of £8 for the year is due at this event!

Warhammer 40,000 - New Life ?

Hi all,
Colin here - and after a good hard read of the new codex, I thought I would offer some food for thought ...

The 40K game is struggling. My opinion and that of others. It's latest edition ruleset created some rather uncomfortable views and rules that we just flat out don't like. With the new codexes coming on stream, we also have to recognise that the older codexes are very outclassed. This all takes away from the experience. Coupled with the growing school of thought about increasing GW prices (Dire Avengers - really???) Lots of us aren't playing as much.

And Bolt Action is REALLY Good .. :)

With the release of the latest Space Marine Codex, there is an opportunity here for GW to pull their train back on track. Most EVERYONE has a space marine army, and this new codex - if it is Grrreattt will bring a lot of us back to the table, and Might - just might bring us back to a semi regular gaming level for WH40K.

So, does it work?

Well - errr for me at least and it seems a lot of people in the internet-geek land ... YES!

It reads really well, it has new fluff and has toned down the Smurf agenda, whilst making them a serious contender for first choice . The rules are modernised and the Chapter Tactics really bring a new feel to the army.

Personally, I have even rewritten my Salamander list - wow :-) And that brings me to my last point.

Their online rulebooks are a seriously good idea for us, we are all moving into a technical age and tablets are becoming two a penny. You can pick up a good Android table for £100 brand new these days. I normally "acquire" static e-books and they work fine. I bought the "enhanced" Space Marine IPAD only e-book and it is REALLY GOOD. Each army list entry for example contains the special rules AND their explanation in the section. Touch Zealot for example and you are given the rules - Fearless and Hatred, AND their full explanation. Cant remember the stats of the graviton gun - one touch and hey presto. Want to skim the entire psychic powers list - no problem.  Lovely, Lovely.  It was a flawed launch as they tried to launch an "Army Builder" - which fizzled badly and they have pulled the book temporarily to fix that - roflstomp :)

Still the new enhanced codexes are really , really good - BUT £35 for a book without paper?? Seriously GW?  This is what mature programming costs??

Hmf , still miffed :)

Cheers - hope this generated food for thought.

Skewiff.

Gambit Sunday

Unfortunately I did not get to hang around for long at the last Gambit Sunday but from the pictures it looks like it was a good day!

Bolt Action featured strongly and is rapidly becoming the game of choice for many of our regulars.

As always MTG was played throughout the day ...

and this month we saw the final game for this round of the blood bowl league being played, with Swifty's Small Order winning 4-1 (although the Sewer Skanks may well claim the touchdown of the series!)

The next round will now start with Barry playing Gary, Swifty playing Michael and Aaron playing Rob. The scores are currently (remember only the top four will play off for the title of champion 2013)

This month we also had a few new games in Dreadfleet and Grind

The HeroClix guys were back as well playing the first of the Fear Itself events

As for the rest it was a combination of old favourites such as War Machine, 40K, Zombicide and many other board games.

If you attended then thanks for making it a great day, if you missed it hopefully see you at the next one!!!

In case you have forgotten today is Gambit Gameday, as usual we will be a the Scout Hut in Vale Park for a full day of gaming starting at 10am and running all day until 10pm. (need directions?)

There is not much organised for this week due to holidays a couple of our events have needed to be rescheduled. So this Sunday will be a very casual day - that said there will still be lots for you to do! There will be some new games with time such as Ticket to Ride the Card Game and the long awaited first play of Dreadfleet - yep after all this time we finally plan to play it!

The guys from Brighton Heroclix will again be with us in the afternoon and will be happy to show you how to play this exciting game!

There will of course be other tables for you to use set up for 40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, War Machine to name just a few. In fact if you want a game of almost anything then I am sure there will be someone willing to give it a go!

Food will be on sale as normal, it might be a good idea to book your food when you get there and just let us know when you want to eat, here is the menu in case you don't know what we offer...

If anyone want to arrange a particular game then our facebook page it probably the best place, if we know before hand then we will try and layout the table ready for you.

Hopefully see you all for what should be another great weekend!

This Weekend at Gambit

The Sunday its Gambit Gameday, as usual we will be a the Scout Hut in Vale Park for a full day of gaming starting at 10am and running all day until 10pm. (need directions?)

Here are a few of the things planned ....

Firstly Andy is running another Warmachine event which should prove challenging and fun to play for experienced players and new players alike.

We will also be holding our second Lords of War event - last time Olly was crowned the Lord of War - could you take this title from him? We are looking for players to take part in a four round (single game) swiss round event which will start at mid day! There is no charge for this event but we do have a copy of the new Elves vs Lizardmen to give away to the eventual winner! There are currently 4 different races to choose from or if you would prefer make a mercenary force with the best cards from both box sets!

For more details see ...

The guys from Brighton Heroclix will again be with us in the afternoon and will be happy to show you how to play this exciting game!

As a preview to the X-Wing tournament being held this October we will be running a second small game which will offer players a chance to get involved early and maybe have an impact on the events that will unfold later in the year when players will have the chance to retell the Star Wars story there own way! This time we have something from A New Hope!
