Gambit Sunday

This weekend its Gambit Sunday and as normal there is a fair bit planned!

Firstly a bit of good news for our younger members, as of this weekend the entrance fee for all players under the age of 16 will be only £2 for the day! This means that for just £2 the younger members can enjoy up to 7 hours of gaming! (10am until 5pm) We will be planning some events later in the year which will be just for the younger members so watch this space!

Bolt Action is still pretty much the game of choice and I know that many players are hoping to get in a few games, and hopefully there will be some news of a tournament which we are planning for May!

With 2000 AD celebrating its 37th birthday this week, why not have a go at the Judge Dredd Miniatures Game and join in our mini campaign! We aim to start fairly early in the day and players will arrange games that they will play as time allows and since each game is pretty short it should fit nicely around the other games that people want to play during the day! The rules are really easy to pick up and all you need is a few figures!

From 1pm there will be a MTG win an Event Deck games day tournament. For more details on this please have a look at the KD Games Blog. This event will cost an additional £3 on top of your entrance fee of £4.

There will also be the chance for players to take on the horde of minotaurs in the 'Battle the Horde' deck, so bring along your deck and see how you do! The horde deck will be on sale from next weekend at KD Games and you can preorder a copy for £10 this weekend. The deck will be available for players to have a go at beating it all day!

At some point in the day we hope to have a go at a 'fun tournament' for Stak Bots and there will be more details on this on the KD Games Blog later this week!

There will hopefully be a bit of play in general this weekend of the Lords of War card game, but in the evening after the MTG event has finished we will be looking for just 4 players to have a go at a small knock out event! As some people may be aware I have joined the Black Box Team to have a look at the tournament systems for the game so it will be nice to see how it changes things compared to the normal points based system! I am also hoping to have a discussion with players about a possible 'draft' event! If your interested in Lords of War at all then please ask and I will let you know what is planned for the coming weeks!

There will be of course the usual multitude of games available throughout the day, so what ever you play you bound to get a chance to play! Hopefully some of the guys from Brighton Heroclix will be joining us later in the day, and if you have not played before its really worth a look!

Food will be available throughout the day ...

Lastly, but by no means least we will have some information about our plans for GamCon which we hope will be of interest to you all! Its a really big project for us and we hope that you will be excited by the prospect! The event will be the biggest thing we have ever attempted and as such will need several volunteers to help as deliver a truly rememberable event! Please have a look at what we are thinking of doing and if you think you can help put your name down on the list!

If anyone wants to arrange to play anything this Sunday, then our facebook group is the best place to let people now!

Hope you can join us for a great day of gaming!!!!

Gambit Sunday

Unfortunately I did not get to hang around for long at the last Gambit Sunday but from the pictures it looks like it was a good day!

Bolt Action featured strongly and is rapidly becoming the game of choice for many of our regulars.

As always MTG was played throughout the day ...

and this month we saw the final game for this round of the blood bowl league being played, with Swifty's Small Order winning 4-1 (although the Sewer Skanks may well claim the touchdown of the series!)

The next round will now start with Barry playing Gary, Swifty playing Michael and Aaron playing Rob. The scores are currently (remember only the top four will play off for the title of champion 2013)

This month we also had a few new games in Dreadfleet and Grind

The HeroClix guys were back as well playing the first of the Fear Itself events

As for the rest it was a combination of old favourites such as War Machine, 40K, Zombicide and many other board games.

If you attended then thanks for making it a great day, if you missed it hopefully see you at the next one!!!

25 Aug 2013

In case you have forgotten today is Gambit Gameday, as usual we will be a the Scout Hut in Vale Park for a full day of gaming starting at 10am and running all day until 10pm. (need directions?)

There is not much organised for this week due to holidays a couple of our events have needed to be rescheduled. So this Sunday will be a very casual day - that said there will still be lots for you to do! There will be some new games with time such as Ticket to Ride the Card Game and the long awaited first play of Dreadfleet - yep after all this time we finally plan to play it!

The guys from Brighton Heroclix will again be with us in the afternoon and will be happy to show you how to play this exciting game!

There will of course be other tables for you to use set up for 40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, War Machine to name just a few. In fact if you want a game of almost anything then I am sure there will be someone willing to give it a go!

Food will be on sale as normal, it might be a good idea to book your food when you get there and just let us know when you want to eat, here is the menu in case you don't know what we offer...

If anyone want to arrange a particular game then our facebook page it probably the best place, if we know before hand then we will try and layout the table ready for you.

Hopefully see you all for what should be another great weekend!

There is no charge for this event but we do have a copy of the new Elves vs Lizardmen to give away to the eventual winner! There are currently 4 different races to choose from or if you would prefer make a mercenary force with the best cards from both box sets!

March at Gambit Games

March was a busy month for Gambit as well as testing for our demo game at Salute which is due in just a few days time (more to be posted about this soon!) we have had quite high turnout at our weekly 'Skirmish Tuesday' which has seen a lot of board games being played along with a MTG Unhinged draft and the return of Caspar very popular MTG cube!

In Kids Dreams we have had the first every Cardfight Vanguard Trio event which was one by Team Top Five!!! This month it will be the store qualifier so it offers teams the chance to qualify for Nationals later in the year! We also celebrated Table Top Day with a day dedicated to playing some of the best board games currently available!

The Young Guns have been playing a lot of 40K and the campaign has progress well with the Eldar currently dominating the games!

Sunday 31st March was not only Easter Sunday but also a Gambit Games Game Day!!!

A big thank you to everyone that attended and making it such a fun day and playing an impressive 19 different game systems! At one point in the day every one of our 12 tables table had something different on it. Despite our concerns about running the holiday keeping attendance low, it was actually one of our highest turnouts!

Board games were very popular throughout the day with classics such as Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic and Carcasonne all getting a lot of new players!

Our youngest player Lily (aged 7) joins in with Ticket to Ride
Zombicide was again a popular game this month seeing players working together to beat the zombie horde!

The guys from Brighton Heroclix were with us again, this time with a 'Hulk' themed game! Next month they will be running some demo games for new players, so if you have thought about giving it a try know just might be the time!

We also held our first ever Dungeon Command event (A trial format, with more planned for later in the year!) which attracted players of all ages and saw Aaron crowned 'Lord of the Dungeon'

Table top miniatures games were still the most played games on the day with players competing in almost all formats, 40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Flames of War, Bolt Action, War Machine

MTG, Pokemon and Vanguard were all played throughout the day and with no event this month gave the opportunity for some multi player games and some tutorials for new players!

All in all a great day, lots of gaming with players of all ages and experiences, a great way to enjoy a bank holiday weekend!

A slightly quieter month on the blog, but here a a couple of articles that you may have missed ....

Hopefully we will see you all at the next game day or maybe one of our Skirmishes at Kids Dreams. Next month we will have the MTG Dragon's Maze pre-release (tickets for which can be purchased online NOW). Kids Dreams will be there as normal along with Onslaught Games so if you want anything please get in touch!
