Mid Month Gambit

Tomorrow it is Gambit Sunday and KD Games will be there as usual hosting a number of events.

First up we will have Pokemon TCG. There will be a small tournament in the morning starting at 11am. It will be standard constructed and the entry price will depend on your age group, Junior and Senior players will cost just £2 while the Masters category will cost £4. Each player will get a booster at the end of the event and the winner will get additional promotion items as a prize.

Next we will have Heroclix. As well as an event hosted by South Coast Heroclix there will be a smaller event that KD Games will be running. It will be a constructed event where players can build teams of up to 150 points but no single model may cot more than 40 points. Once we know numbers we will decide if the event will be 1 vs 1 format or Battle Royale. There will be prizes for this event but no additional entry cost.

Finally there will be a full day of general gaming, covering everything that people want to play from board games, table top miniature games and card games. Doors open at 11am. Hopefully see you all there.

Netrunner will be making an appearance for the third event in a row, and again there will be a tournament for players to join in with. It is again a free event and this time it will be with the new exciting limited format CDM23. More details are on the FB event

Gambit Sunday

This weekend its Gambit Sunday and as normal there will be a full day of gaming!

For some of you, especially those that came to CONQUEST, may never have attended one of our Gambit Sunday Events at the Scout Hut in Vale Park, Portslade. We start at 10am and are there all day through to 10pm. Entrance cost £4, but if this is the first time you have ever attended then your entrance will be reduce to just ....... NOTHING.

So if you have never been before then this may be the month that you give it a try.

Here are a few of the things that you can expect this month...

This is a big weekend for Lords of War, not only will I have the new play mats on sale and single army decks but we will be holding a 'Faction Tournament' from 1pm. More details on the event can be found in this article ... http://gambitgamesuk.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/lords-of-war-faction-tournament.html
There is no additional charge to enter this event, so there really is no reason not to play! If you have not won an event before then you have a chance to become one of only a few 'one star generals' or if you lucky enough to already be a previous champion then maybe you could become the first ever 'TWO STAR GENERAL'
Hopefully we will also be joined by Martin Vaux from Black Box with news on what we can expect next year from Lords of War and maybe a preview of some of the cards in the current kickstarter project.

This week there is also a chance to get hold of the new Pokemon Cards before there release date in our prerelease event. This will cost an additional £20 and will start at 11am, more details of this event can be found at ... http://kidsdreamsgames.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/pokemon-prerelease.html

I will also be continuing with the play testing of Polar Panic, including some of the ideas for the new control deck, anyone wanting a game should ask Olly, Lily or myself and we will be happy to show you what is a very simple game to learn.

Brighton Heroclix will be there in the afternoon, and there are already games of Dropzoe Commander, Bolt Action and War Machine being arranged through social media.

There will be of course the usual multitude of games available throughout the day, so what ever you play you bound to get a chance to play! Hopefully some of the guys from Brighton Heroclix will be joining us later in the day, and if you have not played before its really worth a look!

Food will be available throughout the day ...

If anyone wants to arrange to play anything this Sunday, then our facebook group is the best place to let people now!

Hope you can join us for a great day of gaming!!!!

'Forever Evil'

Following on from the very successful 'Heroes' tournament I bring you 'Villains'. What's your favourite villain team? Its time to unleash the beasts!

You will need to bring two teams of villains, they must be key worded to a particular villain team. They can be from any universe. Each team must consist of four figures/characters and total no more than 400pts. If you would like to attend this event please join the Facebook group UK Heroclix Events and click that you will be attending. This Sunday's Gameday

The Sunday its Gambit Gameday, as usual we will be a the Scout Hut in Vale Park for a full day of gaming starting at 10am and running all day until 10pm.

Here are a few of the things planned ....

Firstly its the MTG Dragon's Maze Prerelease weekend so starting at 10am will be an event that is open to 36 players, for more details on this have a look at : http://gambitgamesuk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/dragons-maze_22.html. This event is very popular and is likely to sell out so if your interested contact us soon.

This will finish at about 4:30pm and will be followed by a Intro Deck battle which will be open to upto 10 players and will allow you to purchase and play with one of the new Intro Decks a week before they are release!

In the evening there will be a draft to finish the prerelease weekend which will start at about 7pm and should be all finished for about 9:30pm. This event will cost £10 and can be booked in advance.

The guys from Brighton Heroclix will be spending the day demonstrating this exciting system. They have got some prepared team ready to use, so if you have ever thought of giving this game  go then now could be the time, see : http://gambitgamesuk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/hero-clix-demos.html

Black Box will be there as well with some samples of the new Elves vs Lizardmen for players to have a look at as well as offering the chance for anyone that has not played the game before the chance to learn the rules. They will hopefully be there for the day and get the chance to join in some of the other games on offer!

There will of course be other tables for you to use set up for 40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, War Machine to name just a few. In fact if you want a game of almost anything then I am sure there will be someone willing to give it a go!

Food will be on sale as normal, but with such a big attendance expected for the prerelease then it would be a good idea to book your food when you get there, here is the menu in case you don't know what we offer...

If anyone want to arrange a particular game then our facebook page it probably the best place, if we know before hand then we will try and layout the table ready for you.

Barry and Michael and Swifty and Aaron will hopefully get some time to play their games for the blood bowl league. There is still time for players to join in with this league if they get teams sorted for the weekend!

Hopefully see you all for what should be another great weekend!

Hero Clix Demo's

Brighton Hero Clix are organising some demonstration games for beginners at our coming games day at the end of the month!

If you have never given this game a try then maybe now would be a good time. They have got some pre-built  teams of 4 figures at 400 points ready to use (Good guys only!). You can play some of the iconic teams such as Avengers, X-Men,Wild C.A.T.S, Defenders to name just a few!

If your unfamiliar with the rules then these are the guys that can help or have a look at the basics here!

They will be there from about mid day until fairly late so you should be able to fit it around anything else that you are planning to play!

Another Great weekend!

A big thank you to everyone that attended last weekends Gambit Gameday! It was a busy one with lots going on! Here is a quick review of some of the highlights, but first if you want to know how one the first ever Lords of War event have a look at : http://kidsdreamstoys.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-lord-of-war-is.html

With over 15 game systems being played this weekend I think its safe to say that there was something for everyone, and although space was tight I don't think anyone had to wait too long for a game!

First up was War Machine with some truly impressive models on the battlefield ...

Next we have a game that is becoming a regular at our events which is Bolt Action, more details on this system can be found at the Warlord Games site!

For the first time we hosted a Pokemon City Championship and congratulations to Oscar Smith (Juniors), Matthew King (Seniors) and Ben Stewart Armstead (Masters) on winning their age groups in the competition all getting a trophy and some new Plasma Storm boosters for their efforts.

Our colleagues from Brighton Heroclix held a sealed event for the new Spiderman set which created a lot of interest in this game system. Matt and some of the experienced players had the opportunity to teach some of the game basics once the event finished! Some of the spare characters were kindly donated to us, which will allow new players to this great game the chance to learn the rules!

Both 40K and fantasy were being played as normal and it was good to see some new faces...

Dungeon Command was also played this month on a much bigger scale than previously, we managed to see all four factions being played in an epic four way battle! Both the new Undead and Goblin sets have some really cool characters and give the game some new tactics.

In the evening we had some role play in the form of Dark Heresy and a Magic the Gathering event which saw 16 players competing for the Gatcrash Gameday playmat. Congratulations to Cameron Whitney on his victory!

We had some Malifaux again this month, if you have not seen this before why not have a look at their website for details on how to play, etc.

With everything else going on during the day it seem amazing to think that anyone could concentrate on actually making something, but we have some really great Bolt Action buildings being designed and built, which should really add to what we currently offer!

Our next event will be Sunday 31st March, and whatever you play ... come along, there is bound to be someone ready to give you a game. We have players of all ages and experience levels and are happy to teach anyone to play one of our systems as well as offering more competitive games for experienced players.

Hopefully see you all next month!
